New Zealand shipyard Profab Engineering has signed a contract for the build of a 39.5-metre catamaran explorer yacht codenamed the Beast. Known as the builders of Adagio and Black Pearl, Profab Engineering’s dedicated superyacht division will oversee the build of the yacht.

With an estimated launch date of December 2018, the project is being built for an experienced yachtsman who is no stranger to owning Kiwi-built yachts. The Beast will comprise of a 495 GT internal volume, largely due to her enormous beam of 12 metres.

Designed for the vibrant charter market of the South Pacific with 37South Yacht Charter, the yacht is being built to house several guest-pleasing tenders and toys to ensure hours of fun on the water. On her aft deck she is to carry is a 13-metre sportsfishing tender as well as a 9-metre amphibious tender that gets guests onto land without having to get their feet wet.

She will sleep 12 guests in five cabins and is designed to operate over long distances with a fuel tank of 76,000 litres. The Beast is designed by local New Zealand design office LOMOcean.

One of the largest superyacht berthings facilities in the Pacific, Silo Marina in Auckland New Zealand, is currently hosting a number of large superyachts from the region. SuRi successfully completes sea trials after 11 metre extension

The 90ft Doggersbank, Tivoli is moving to the South Pacific for 2013 with 4 charters (37 days) already booked by 37South. Tivoli has enjoyed many successful years of charter in the Caribbean but the South Pacific was calling in more ways than one with numerous charter opportunities knocking at the helm. The move is one that seems to be a growing trend amongst yachts from the Caribbean and the Med. Tivoli’s owner (and captain) couldn’t be happier with his decision; “In Antigua one year a broker asked me – if you could take your yacht on one last journey, where would it be? Tivoli moves to South Pacific with 4 charters booked

37 South informs us the 30 metre motor yacht Aquarius is now available for charter in Fijian waters this season, adding to the increasing number of luxury yachts in Fijian waters. (BSY) located in Alameda, California in collaboration with naval architects Kirilloff and Associates of Green Cove springs, Florida, and Jeffrey Botwin of Herringbone Design of Los Angeles, California were awarded the contract to lengthen the expedition yacht SuRi by adding a 11 metre mid-body hull and superstructure plug for a new overall length of 63.4 metre. <iframe height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/7diFloI93t4" frameborder="0" width="560" allowfullscreen=""></iframe>The new 11 metre mid-body hull and superstructure plug have now been put in place, as shown in this time lapse video. Multi award-winning charter vessel, VvS1 is leaving the Pacific and is due to be available for charter in the Mediterranean by the end of May.
