Launched in 2008 by the German shipyard <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/23" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lürssen Yachts (Company)">Lürssen</a>, the superyacht, boasting a total gross tonnage of 1,277, showcases an exterior crafted by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/82" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Espen Øino International (Company)">Espen Øino</a> and a contemporary interior designed by the Dutch firm <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/165" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Art Line (Company)">Art Line</a>. Built with a combination of a steel hull and an aluminium superstructure, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/114" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Vive la Vie60.35m (197'12&quot;)Lürssen Yachts2008">Vive la Vie</a> is equipped with twin <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1408" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Caterpillar Inc (Company)">Caterpillar</a> diesel engines of 1,977 horsepower each, enabling the yacht to achieve a maximum speed of 15.5 knots.

Symbolising a new era of naval architecture, innovation and superyacht design, she has a total volume of 11,247 GT, which is more than twice the size of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1075" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lloyd Werft (Company)">Lloyd Werft</a>’s 2010-built, 115-metre and 5,655 GT superyacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1752" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Luna115.0m (377'4&quot;)Lloyd Werft2010">Luna</a>.

The German ship and superyacht builder <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/23" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lürssen Yachts (Company)">Lürssen</a> has acquired a 25 percent share of the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1075" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lloyd Werft (Company)">Lloyd Werft</a> shipyard in Bremerhaven which was rescued from insolvency in 2022. The previous shareholders of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1075" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lloyd Werft (Company)">Lloyd Werft</a>, the Gustav Zech Foundation and the Rönner Group, will retain their shares of 25 percent and 50 percent respectively.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/187919/image/large-a57b186dd13f9b0328662ebc98cc0f8f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/187919">According to the Federal Cartel Office, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/23" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lürssen Yachts (Company)">Lürssen</a>'s entry is permitted because there is considerable competition in the construction and repair of civil ships and yachts in particular, both in Germany, but also worldwide. The shipyard currently has over 200 employees and the entrance of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/23" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lürssen Yachts (Company)">Lürssen</a> into the ownership agreement will help to secure those jobs, and to continue the yard's yachting industry activities. &nbsp;<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/250303/image/large-570ecf32ee6b3d131ac95ffc9bcf438c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/250303">Andreas Mundt, President of the Federal Cartel Office, commented, "The <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/23" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lürssen Yachts (Company)">Lürssen Group</a> from Bremen and the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1075" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lloyd Werft (Company)">Lloyd</a> shipyard in Bremerhaven are both active in the construction and repair of civilian ships, especially yachts. There are a large number of competitors in this area, both in Germany and worldwide. Against this background, the merger project was approved."&nbsp;

<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1075" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lloyd Werft (Company)">Lloyd Werft</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6245" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ulstein Design & Solutions AS (Company)">Ulstein Design &amp; Solutions (UDS)</a> have partnered up for a new 71.1-metre X-Bow superyacht project, dubbed CX124. The project can be delivered in 36 months from signing with the exclusive central agency <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2237" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="SuperYachtsMonaco (Company)">SuperYachtsMonaco</a>.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/264578/image/large-4625ac2a9d53c3ef5c40ec2eeb1f9b52.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/264578">The majority of the concept design has been created by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6245" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ulstein Design & Solutions AS (Company)">UDS</a> and there are a number of superyacht outfitting options available upon request. The shareholders of the shipyard, Rönner Group, and Gustav Zech Stiftung have appointed Friedrich Norden as the Managing Director of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1075" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lloyd Werft (Company)">Lloyd Werft</a> Bremerhaven. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/250302/image/large-bf0ca4aa9dc6be911c5afeca889734cf.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/250302">Friedrich Norden will start his new role effective December 1, 2022 and will act as Managing Director for the German shipyard together with Thorsten Rönner.“I am looking forward to the challenges and projects ahead for me with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1075" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lloyd Werft (Company)">Lloyd Werft</a> and would like to thank the shareholders for their trust,” commented Friedrich Norden.Friedrich was previously the project manager at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1075" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lloyd Werft (Company)">Lloyd Werft</a> and has spent his entire career with the shipyard. In order to reach this target, we have started again with drydock and repair work for all kinds of vessels,” added Friedrich Norden.Friedrich initially trained as an industrial mechanic at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1075" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lloyd Werft (Company)">Lloyd Werft</a> from 1989 to 1991, followed by a two-year course of studies in mechanical engineering. In 2002, he returned to <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1075" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lloyd Werft (Company)">Lloyd Werft</a>, where he started out as an estimator in the project department and became Project Manager for large new-build and conversions from 2006 onwards.&nbsp;Since then, he has managed many conversions of cruise ships. In April 2012, he became Head of Purchasing for the shipyard. He also held power of attorney since 2013. His son Friedrich was also Project Manager at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1075" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lloyd Werft (Company)">Lloyd Werft</a> until his sudden death in 1994. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1075" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lloyd Werft (Company)">Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven</a>, the shipyard that brought us the 139.7-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6847" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Solaris139.7m (458'4&quot;)Lloyd Werft2021">Solaris</a> and the 115-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1752" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Luna115.0m (377'4&quot;)Lloyd Werft2010">Luna</a>, has revealed a radical new concept, the 125-metre superyacht Albatross. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/242515/image/large-e2f9220f8c963f592cfbe08803f1b28c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/242515">The German shipyard developed Albatross in collaboration with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4778" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sea Design (Company)">Stay Sea Design</a>, with the vision to create a more environmentally friendly and green yacht concept. On this imperative, Albatross is a major sail-assisted catamaran project that will utilise three “free fuels”: wind, solar and seawater.<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1075" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lloyd Werft (Company)">Lloyd Werft</a> will employ a rigid sail technology that can be folded away when not in use, and which can deliver approximately 1,200 kilowatts of free propulsion power, and alone can achieve speeds of around seven knots. Albatross also benefits from around 1,150 square-metres of solar panels that can harvest a further 120 kilowatts per hour. The final attribute are the five vertical wind turbines installed on the upper deck. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/242516/image/large-81c6fe7cedbacb94912ea7c6320a23a5.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/242516">The concept is based on split operation modes to ensure that she’s as fuel efficient as possible. She’ll be fitted with a hybrid propulsion system that uses methanol fuel. As the shipyard explained:“The vessel utilises a DC Grid for controlling and delivering all energy suppliers and consumers.In driving/sailing mode, propulsion is generated by four main engines of 1,800 kilowatts each, coupled in pairs to two gearboxes incorporating a PTO / PTI hybrid system for a 1,000kilowatts Generator / Motor attached to a controllable pitch propeller system. Main Engines are powered using conventional marine gas oil, as there is little alternative for longer voyages, but consumption is reduced while utilising the rigid wing sail technology. For use in both modes, there are four 400 kilowatts rim drive thrusters installed. Two in the bow and two in the stern, for safe and quiet manoeuvring of the Yacht in or out of port or anchorage.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/242518/image/large-d15691574eba21efc2c0517c86531643.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/242518"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/242517/image/large-4cb5f777a0987a2c6ee574dbaa9735c6.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/242517">This commitment to reducing its environmental impact is fed directly into the design DNA, and all chosen materials are lightweight, long-lasting and sustainably sourced. Albatross promises to not only be green, but to exemplify stately living. She has an abundance of space and features a long list of features, including a gym, spa, several saloon and dining areas and an impressive infinity pool. She can be fully customised though, “Anything is possible with the right amount of thought and investigation,” Friedrich Norden, Head of Projects &amp; Sales at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1075" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lloyd Werft (Company)">Lloyd Werft</a>, explained.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/242519/image/large-4b3bf0a5693df67aa86cad1dadaec228.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/242519"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/242520/image/large-084092619ec26131528aa3fced38bf27.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/242520">Albatross can accommodate as many 14 guests and a staggering 46 crew. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1075" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lloyd Werft (Company)">Lloyd Werft</a> also ensured that its latest concept can support all guests needs, with an abundance of tender and storage space, spread over two large garages. She also has a helideck. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/242521/image/large-5bb76a50d696c597ec310ee95914230a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/242521">In terms of performance, it is expected that Albatross will be able to reach speeds of up to 15 knots and have an Eco speed of 12 knots.&nbsp;

Carsten Haake has stepped down as Managing Director of Lloyd Investitions-und Verwaltungs GmbH with effect from 19 April, 2022. Haake has served as Managing Director for a number of companies in the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1075" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lloyd Werft (Company)">Lloyd Werft Group</a> since 2003, and has been a major player in shaping the companies he has directed.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/225186/image/large-3b2f32148dbf8e71a70deafcbbdd7ef5.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/225186">&nbsp;Since 2018, Haake has assumed the position of director of MV Werften Holdings Ltd., and was therefore a key representative of the former shareholder.
