Strong headway has been made with the construction of the 34.9-metre explorer yacht Project Fox at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/209" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Pendennis Shipyard Ltd (Company)">Pendennis</a> and she’s on course to meet her delivery date of 2023.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/220718/image/large-158509db47bdb762e5a7a4bc4aff6355.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/220718"> Project Fox seeks to be a trailblazer in the explorer yacht segment. She offers an interior and exterior design by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6663" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Q London (Company)">Q London</a> laid onto a hull by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/7" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Diana Yacht Design B.V. (Company)">Diana Yacht Design</a>, a 3,600 nautical mile range, 295 GT of interior volume and accommodation for up to eight guests. James Ratcliffe, Managing Partner of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6663" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Q London (Company)">Q London</a>, explained that he stuck to a clean, minimalist interior design that’s flexible and easy to customise, to keep her appeal high for a wide range of potential clients. When deployed, the spacious main deck is versatile and can cater to an all manner of needs. Lontano is a new explorer yacht that has moved from idea to concept and is already creating waves. The 78.7-metre Lontano has been penned by two young designers – Giulia Bassan &amp; Alessandro Benedetti – who coined the concept as their master’s degree thesis project. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/208295/image/large-ffa19ad5430079430efdf595a5d46124.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/208295"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/208298/image/large-18227f2ffb8449c1d814ec692e5b0653.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/208298">Lontano’s design has been based on the hull of a supply vessel from the Norwegian shipyard <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4539" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ulstein Verft AS (Company)">Ulstein</a>, which brings to the yacht all the trappings necessary for long explorations. The inverted-bow, other than its unique aesthetic, serves to split the wave distribution thus decreasing impact and vibrations compared to a traditional bow shape.The nature-inspired shape has several functional purposes such as improved power efficiency, increased comfort and reduced slamming. The explorer yacht has been over four years in the making since the Norwegian yard <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/companies/ulstein-verft-as">Ulstein</a> announced it would be building the project <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/ulstein-signs-88m-espen-oeino-x-bow-new-build-project">back in 2016</a>. The vessel’s offshore-grade platform was developed by <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/companies/ulstein-verft-as">Ulstein’s</a> in-house team of engineers while <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/companies/espen-oeino">Espen Øino</a> was selected by the owner to further develop the exterior lines and the general arrangement of the vessel. The enormous internal volume of 4,898 GT comes from <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yachts/olivia-o">Olivia O’s</a> hefty beam of 16.3 metres and the high freeboard created by the ship’s unique X-Bow hull shape, developed for use in unforgiving North Sea conditions. Some of her onboard features include a massive swimming pool on the main deck aft, a commercially-rated helicopter deck with a D-value of 16 and outdoor sports field on the upper deck aft. A subtle two-tone exterior finish in white and light grey gives <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yachts/olivia-o">Olivia O</a> an athletic look together with her raked mast and swept wheelhouse wings.
